Metro users, take note: A couple of changes are going to take place in June 2021…
With four months to go for Expo 2020 Dubai, work has been in full swing to ensure everything is ready before October 1, 2021. Not only does this include the jaw-dropping pavilions and the Expo 2020 Dubai site itself, but all the routes leading to the Expo 2020 Dubai site.
Last week, Road and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the new Expo 2020 Dubai Metro station will open up on June 1, 2021. Additionally, the Dubai Investment Park metro station will also welcome passengers.
During the six months, Expo 2020 Dubai is estimated to be visited by millions of people and the Dubai Metro will be one of the many ways visitors will transit to the event.
In order to provide a seamless journey for visitors, on May 31 the RTA announced that passengers travelling from Al Rashidiya Station will not have to switch trains at the interchange station – Jabal Ali.
It will be an uninterrupted route saving passengers time and the hassle of switching trains.
For those passengers heading to UAE Exchange, they will now need to change trains at the Jabal Ali interchange station.
However, at this point, only those who have a special VIP pass for Expo 2020 will be able to use this metro service as it is not yet open to the public.
His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stated, ‘From June 1, journeys of Dubai Metro’s Red Line will shuttle directly between Al Rashidiya Station and Expo 2020 Station. Jebel Ali Station will be an interchange station for those heading to or coming from UAE Exchange Station.’
He also added that the opening of the Jumeirah Golf Estates Station will coincide with the opening of Expo 2020.
