Dubai Students Recycle Tonnes Of E-Waste

A Day with Amanda Jenkins: Fitness and Cookies in Dubai

In preparation for World Environment Day on June 5, over a hundred students from 36 schools participated in a 10-day electronic waste recycling drive. According to the founder of the campaign, WeCareDXB, Indian teen, Riva Tulpule, her group has collected over 2.6 tonnes of electronic equipment. Some of the electronic devices they have collected include laptops, televisions, monitors, and batteries.

According to Tulpule, all of the electronic equipment was collected and recycled in an eco-friendly manner using the help of a company known as Enviroserve, which is based in the Dubai Industrial City. She noted that the group was not able to collect and store the large amount of electronic equipment due to the lack of transportation. She said that the group is planning on holding another collection drive in the future.

She added: “Our objective is to spread the message of proper e-waste recycling. We have been working on this cause since the last six years through the WeCareDXB platform.”
