The UAE is currently undertaking a study to alleviate traffic congestion on federal roads connecting Dubai and the Northern Emirates, as announced by Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazrouei, on Wednesday.

The study is geared towards implementing strategic projects aimed at mitigating congestion along the federal roads that link Dubai with the Northern Emirates. Anticipated to be initiated in the second half of 2024, these initiatives are expected to significantly improve the traffic situation in the region.

The announcement was made in response to a query raised by Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi, a member of the Federal National Council (FNC), regarding the prevalent traffic congestion between Dubai and the Northern Emirates. This discussion took place during the third session of the first ordinary session of the 18th legislative term of the FNC.

Al Mazrouei highlighted the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) systems and cutting-edge technologies in the study. The objective is to identify the root causes of traffic congestion along the Dubai-Northern Emirates route and devise targeted solutions within specific timeframes. Recognizing traffic congestion as a global urban challenge, the minister emphasized the continuous development of UAE roads, consistently ranked among the Top 10 globally, with a particular focus on enhancing transport networks.
