The initiative seeks to recognize and reward e-scooter riders who diligently follow traffic regulations, ultimately contributing to a noticeable reduction in fatal road accidents. 
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic, emphasized the importance of acknowledging the efforts of responsible riders. He explained that the Dubai Police’s Department of Traffic Education has established a dedicated team to monitor e-scooter riders and acknowledge their commitment by presenting them with recognition certificates and the coveted Scooter Hero pin. The primary goal is to inspire all riders to adhere to traffic rules, prioritize road safety measures, and strive to attain the title of Scooter Hero.
So, who can aspire to become a Scooter Hero? Al Mazroui provided insight into the criteria and standards that determine a committed e-scooter rider. These standards include following designated paths, abiding by traffic laws, wearing helmets and reflective jackets, and equipping scooters with bright white front and red rear light reflectors, as well as ensuring functional brakes. Al Mazroui reiterated the organization’s resolute commitment to raising awareness about traffic regulations and educating all road users about safety precautions.
The primary objective of this initiative is to reduce instances of road violations, lower the occurrence of traffic accidents, and ultimately decrease fatalities related to road incidents.
