Looking for something literary to do in Dubai?

Every year we look forward to the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, which brings incredible authors, artists and creators from around the world for the biggest celebration of stories in the Middle East.

The festival goes from Thursday, February 3 to Saturday, February 12 and the majority of the sessions will be taking place at the festival’s brand new canal-side home for 2022 in Al Habtoor City.

This year’s theme is Here Comes the Sun, and as usual, it will feature an array of special events, discussions, activities and more. It is organised by the Emirates Literature Foundation and has won several awards, including Best Festival in the Middle East three times.

The full ELF line-up was revealed at an Expo 2020 Dubai event, and this year is bringing some truly exciting names.

Authors of Netflix sensations Bridgerton, Chernobyl 1986, House of Gucci, and No Music at Al Ahmadi will all be there as well as superstar animators Mohammed Saeed Harib, creator of Freej, and animator Ken Arto of Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

There are some awesome events to put into your diary, too. Fright Night will be an evening of thrills and chills with sessions paying homage to horror, crime and all things dark. There will also be an enchanting evening of spoken word at the Expo 2020 Dubai site, with Carlos Andrés Gómez and Dubai’s Dr Afra Atiq, accompanied musically by Nashville-based singer/songwriter Brent Shuttleworth.

We couldn’t possibly list all the authors and creatives who are coming to the festival, but there is certainly something for every literary taste.
