Dubai’s got its fair share of Italian restaurants, but this is the first with a digital art display

Feast on fine Italian fare in the elegant setting of the brand new Duomo restaurant at the soon-to-open Dubai Edition hotel in Downtown Dubai.
Bookings for Duomo open today and this new Italian restaurant opens on Monday (November 15), but we’ve already been inside for an exclusive first look.
Designed with a nod to the Duomo di Milan, the restaurant sits under 15-metre-high vaulted arch ceilings, with a crystal chandelier at the entrance.
That’s not it – the vast walls of the arch will be used as the canvas for an ever-changing digital art show at Duomo.
Gaze upon Burj Khalifa perfectly framed within the vaulted arch window, as you sit nestled below on a bright yellow Chesterfield, a pop of colour against the white Italian marble.
Or choose a table on the peaceful terrace outside, decorated with olive trees in terracotta pots, reminiscent of the cafés of Milan.
The menu is rooted in southern Italy, with homemade pastas, elegant meat and fish dishes, and authentic pizzas. Signature starters include Burrata with a tomato veil, semi-dried tomato and basil.
For mains, one of the highlights is a vegetarian dish of homemade potato gnocchi, wild mushroom, rocket, endive, tarragon and pecorino cheese.
Duomo also makes generous use of indulgent truffles to add a twist to seasonal creations, such as the Brasato di Manzo – braised black Angus short ribs, smoked mash, leeks pecorino cheese, chives and black truffle. You can expect classic Italian beverages and signature mixed drinks to pair perfectly with your meal.
