Dubai will be lighting up the night this week as Diwali celebrations across the city hit top gear.

A series of spectacular displays to mark the annual festival, which symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

With the world’s largest observation wheel, Ain Dubai, nestled at its centre, the Diwali fireworks display at Bluewaters Dubai is set to wow, particularly with the added backdrop of Palm Jumeirah and that awesome Dubai Marina skyline.

Head to the hugely popular destination on Thursday November 4 to catch the 8.30pm show and dance along to Bollywood dance numbers. A live street festival is popping up over three days from Thursday November 4 to Saturday November 6 to really capture the excitement of the occasion.

If you’re closer Festival City on Thursday, head to the Dubai Festival City Mall for a Dubai-style fireworks display at 9.30pm on the mall’s waterside. There’s also plenty of tasty bites, shopping and family fun-filled activities to be had at neighbouring Ripe by the Bay.

Global Village is always a pretty special place to catch a fireworks display and the 2021 Diwali celebrations in Dubai will be no different.

From traditional, local and international cuisine to shopping opportunities, live shows, and those all-important colourful explosions up above, this weekend’s firework displays kicks off at 9pm on both the Thursday and Friday.

There’s also the small matter of the Diwali celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Events are running at the site of the world’s greatest show every day this week, with storytelling sessions, rangoli displays, and top performances by Indian artists such as Dubai-based bands Rooh and Dhurv, siblings Salim and Sulaiman Merchant and Bollywood playback singer Vipul Mehta, all contributing to a whopping programme.

Parades and cultural performances, plus a dazzling LED light show, are also on the agenda.

Time to celebrate.
