According to a major study by Georgetown University, the UAE holds the greatest percentage of women who feel safe in their communities worldwide.
One of the best parts about living in the UAE is the incredible amount of safety and security that residents experience here, so it comes as no surprise that the UAE ranks highest when it comes to women’s perception of their safety in their communities and cities.
For this study, women across the world aged 15 years and older were asked to report whether they “feel safe walking alone at night in the city or area where you live.”
In the UAE, 98.5 per cent reported feeling safe. That is the highest percentage worldwide.
Researchers said measuring this safety perception was critical to women’s mobility and influences their ability to look for opportunities outside of the home.
The UAE recently ranked third in the world for its response to COVID-19, according to a study by Bloomberg.
The COVID Resilience Ranking determines the best and worst countries to be in as COVID-19 restrictions ease and reopening gathers pace. The UAE is behind only Ireland (which ranks first) and Spain (which ranks second).
