A 20-year-old Ukrainian model and OnlyFans creator who had been missing for ten days has regained consciousness and begun speaking, though she currently does not recognise her own family.
Maria Kovalchuk vanished on March 9 after telling friends she was attending a high-end hotel party in Dubai. Her body was found on March 19 by the roadside, showing severe injuries, including broken limbs, a fractured spine, and missing teeth.
Her mother, Anna who rushed to Dubai from Norway is now at her daughter’s bedside. Maria has started speaking, but is not able to identify her own relatives, a sign of serious memory trauma.
Anna confirmed that she knows the identities of the attackers and that the names are already with the prosecutor. She has, however, declined to share further details publicly and refrained from confirming speculation surrounding certain individuals.
Dubai authorities have suggested that Maria may have accessed a construction site without authorization and sustained her injuries from a fall. Critics have dismissed this as implausible, questioning how dental fragments ended up in her handbag, among other inconsistencies.
An attendee known only as Ksenia recounted hearing intense screaming from behind a closed door before seeing two men carry a rolled-up carpet out of the room suggesting something far more sinister than an accident.
More than three months after the incident, Maria remains hospitalised and is still unable to sit unaided due to the extent of her injuries. Both she and her mother continue to stay in Dubai, awaiting her recovery and eventual safe return to Europe.
