World of Coffee Dubai 2024: Record Turnout, Barista Champions, and Insightful Lectures

The World of Coffee Dubai 2024, orchestrated by DXB Live in collaboration with the Specialty Coffee Association, has wrapped up with resounding success, drawing an impressive crowd of over 13,000 specialized attendees, marking a substantial 30 percent growth from the previous year. Organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre’s integrated event management and experiential agency, DXB Live, the event has firmly established itself as a global gathering for coffee enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.

A highlight of the concluding day was the announcement of the winners of the UAE National Barista Championship. The competition showcased the talents of the most skilled baristas in the UAE, competing for the coveted title and the opportunity to represent their country at the World Barista Championship. Michaela Rnazol from Typica Cafe claimed the first position, followed by Kemal Risyad from Archers Coffee in second place, and Nooran Al Bannay from Coffee Architecture securing the third spot. The Latte Art competition’s top honors went to Mondrick Alpas from Gold Box Roastery, Angelo Lagata from Number Five Gate in second place, and Jatfikly Raymond Ampuan from DRVN by Porsche in third.

The final day featured three insightful lectures, enhancing the event’s educational aspect. Demian and Mergen of Abro led the first discussion, Ben Hilt, AST Director at the Specialty Coffee Association, delved into the details of the New Specialty Coffee Association Skills Diploma, and Andreas Zehnder delivered a thought-provoking lecture on ‘The Economics of Coffee Extraction Plants: Analyzing Returns on Sustainability Investment.’

Khalid Al Hammadi, Senior Vice President of DXB LIVE, expressed satisfaction with the significant interest generated by the latest edition, emphasizing its focus on sustainability in the coffee industry and the promotion of coffee culture through educational platforms. The exhibition witnessed a remarkable turnout, with the number of visitors nearly quadrupling since the inaugural edition. Plans are already underway for the fourth edition scheduled for next year.

Timur AbdiJalil, the Consul General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, noted the substantial increase in trade volume between the Kyrgyz Republic and the UAE, inviting Emirati coffee companies participating in the World of Coffee Dubai 2024 exhibition to explore opportunities in Kyrgyzstan.

With over 1,650 exhibitors and brands from 51 countries occupying 15,000 square meters, World of Coffee Dubai 2024 stands as a pivotal international hub, uniting stakeholders across the coffee industry. The exhibition facilitated valuable connections and collaborations, with the fourth edition scheduled for February 10 to 12, 2025.
