Lamborghini Urus Performante Takes on Police Duty in Dubai

Eswatini Keen To Boost Investment Relations With UAE

In celebration of Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary in 2023, the Italian luxury automaker extended its presence to various police forces globally. Among the standout additions is the Lamborghini Urus, a vehicle that commands attention with its formidable presence, wedge-shaped design, and a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine beneath the hood. The sheer might of the Urus discourages any notion of confrontation, even from those with more potent vehicles.

The Lamborghini Urus, known for its super-SUV capabilities, has recently been spotted adorned in police livery, adding a new dimension to law enforcement fleets. While attempting to outpace this high-performance vehicle might be feasible with sufficient horsepower and skill, outrunning the police radio waves is an entirely different challenge.

Last year, Lamborghini announced a collaboration with Italy’s “Polizia di Stato,” introducing an Urus Performante customized for the Italian Highway Police. This police version, unveiled in Rome, is set to join active service in 2024. Notably, this isn’t the only Urus Performante to join the ranks of law enforcement vehicles.

Turning our attention to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lamborghini Dubai, in collaboration with the Dubai Police, has presented its own Urus Performante. This delivery adds a real-world touch to Lamborghini’s recent forays into the virtual realm, including the Telemetry X concept at CES 2024 and digital celebrations for the brand’s 60th anniversary.

During a special ceremony held at the Dubai Airshow 2023, Paolo Sartori, the head of Automobili Lamborghini Middle East and Africa, handed over the keys to the Urus Performante to Major General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, acting commander-in-chief of Dubai Police. Sartori expressed the brand’s pleasure in supporting Dubai Police’s crucial public safety mission, emphasizing the Urus Performante’s role in enhancing city security.

Equipped with the same twin-turbo V8 engine as the standard Urus, the Performante variant boasts 657 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to achieve a top speed of 190 mph and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. The police-customized Urus Performante features distinctive elements such as Dubai Police livery, a blue 360° LED light bar on the rear spoiler, an electric siren, and essential police equipment in the cockpit, including an armored gun box, a fold-down message display, a dedicated trunk compartment for service equipment, and a defibrillator for first aid response.
