Dubai Invitational Unveils Golf Stars: Donald, Fleetwood, Fox Headline Inaugural Event

Exploring Dubai’s Hidden Gems: Unique Places to Visit Beyond the Tourist Attractions

Headlined by European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald, World Number 14 Tommy Fleetwood, and four-time DP World Tour champion Ryan Fox, the inaugural Dubai Invitational is set to captivate golf enthusiasts at Dubai Creek Resort from January 11-14, 2024.

Joining the star-studded lineup are World Number Two Rory McIlroy and Ryder Cup victor Nicolai Højgaard, fresh off his triumph at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai last month. The field comprises 60 professionals and 60 amateurs, engaging in a 72-hole strokeplay DP World Tour tournament and a three-day team Pro-Am, culminating in a professionals-only Sunday. Free General Admission tickets are available for registration.

Luke Donald, who led Team Europe to victory at the 2023 Ryder Cup, recently named Europe’s first repeat Captain since 1995, expresses his anticipation for commencing the 2024 DP World Tour season in Dubai. He remarked, “We always get a lot of support from the fans when the Tour visits Dubai. It’s a cool place to play golf, and with the added novelty of this being a brand-new event on the calendar, I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic experience for everyone.”

Tommy Fleetwood, a six-time DP World Tour winner and Dubai resident, aims to build on his successful 2023 season, including a second Ryder Cup win. Fleetwood, no stranger to UAE victories, having clinched back-to-back wins in Abu Dhabi in 2017 and 2018, shared his excitement, stating, “It’s great to have two weeks in Dubai, and I hope that it will set me up for a big year.”

New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, coming off a significant victory at the 2023 BMW PGA Championship, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season kickoff in Dubai. “I’m really excited for what 2024 has to offer, and kickstarting things at the Dubai Invitational will be a fun week,” Fox said.

As the event approaches, anticipation is building for a tournament that promises not only top-notch golf but also a range of engaging activities, including golf activations, family entertainment, and F&B offerings.

Tom Phillips, Head of Middle East for the DP World Tour, highlighted the significance of the Dubai Invitational in the expanded 2024 DP World Tour schedule, while Chris May, CEO of Dubai Golf, emphasized the preparations underway at the historic Dubai Creek Resort for the event.

Scheduled bi-annually in 2024, 2026, and 2028, the Dubai Invitational marks the first event on the International Swing of the DP World Tour’s new 2024 schedule. Fans can attend for free by registering in advance for General Admission tickets.
