- Room Review
I had the Junior Suite with a Sea View which comes with complimentary executive lounge access. The room is absolutely gorgeous, it is spacious and has a feel of high quality seaside elegance. The room has a huge flat screen TV and an ensuite bathroom. The air-conditioning worked really well, there is a minibar, coffee machine and bathrobes.
The room also has soundproofing which gives you that extra sense of complete peace and tranquillity. The view from the room is breath taking. I loved waking up to the sunrise in bed with the never ending ocean in front of me. Absolutely beautiful.
- Activities At The Hotel
The hotel has many activities and amenities that will surely increase once the new Oceans Mall opens. The hotel has a well sized gym for a hotel that is open 24/7. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, a kiddies area, an executive business lounge and multiple state of the art boardrooms.
The meetings and events area comprises eight elegant meeting and conference venues fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, including video conferencing capabilities and free high-speed Wi-Fi. The ballroom seats 600 guests in cinema style and leads into a foyer with access to an outdoor terrace which can cater up to 340 guests, perfect for any big or small occasion.
Fire Lake Grill House & Cocktail Bar on the 6th floor will serve North American inspired open flame cuisine and offer a variety beverages. I had breakfast and dinner here, the food was incredible. I loved the spread for breakfast with a large variety of cereals, juices and pastries
Guests can visit the Coffee Lounge on the ground floor for freshly brewed coffee and homemade baguettes from the in-house bakery or they can visit the Pool Bar is the perfect location to relax, unwind, and soak up the sun while tasting a selection of light snacks and refreshing cold drinks and enjoying the spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.
- Special Gem
This hotel is beautiful in every single way but it’s special gem has to be the location, with it connecting into the new Ocean’s Mall, that makes it a game changer for years and years to come. It is perfectly positioned near to everything in Umhlanga. It has a Starbucks, McDonalds and various other restaurants within a 200m walk. The beach is within walking distance. The location of this hotel makes it even more special.
- Staff
The cleaning, front desk and concierge staff were friendly and helpful, they were always smiling and greeted me every time I walked by which made me feel even more comfortable. However the staff in the restaurant seemed to be all over the place, they left me unattended for lengthy periods of time which needs some work but the overall experience of the staff is a highly pleasant one.
